Our History & Journey

December 2021: Anayatta Foundation was incorporated as a not-for-profit company under the Companies Act 2013. The foundation was initiated in response to the urgent need for sustained rehabilitative care for people with severe mental illness in institutional care settings.

Foundation of Expertise: Our founding team comprised experienced psychiatrists and social workers with cumulatively over 20 years of experience across the spectrum of mental health services, including institutional care, community-based mental health, and specialist long-term care. This rich background has enabled us to develop evidence-based, recovery-oriented approaches.

TATA Trust Udaan Partnership: Anayatta Foundation became one of the few mental health organizations in India to engage in mental hospital reform. Our core team was part of the larger TATA Trust – Udaan programme, aimed at recovery-oriented mental hospital reform at Regional Mental Hospital, Nagpur (RMHN). We have been involved in this transformational initiative since its inception and seen the programme to fruition. Our technical expertise and government linkages have made us key influencers and stakeholders capable of facilitating systemic change.

Registrations & Compliance: Since our incorporation, we have obtained all necessary registrations including Section 8 Certificate, 12A, 80G tax exemptions, FCRA certification, and recognition from Government of Maharashtra Department of Mental Health. We are listed on NGO Darpan (NITI Aayog) and maintain highest standards of compliance and financial transparency.

Growth & Impact: Over the years, we have expanded our services to reach 150+ patients in rehabilitation, established community mental health programs across Vidarbha, and contributed to hospital reform initiatives. Today, Anayatta Foundation stands as a beacon of hope for mental health recovery and rehabilitation in the region.
